Cheddar & Chive scones are a delicious savory treat! Serve them when you make soup, pasta, or as a snack! Just enough cheddar flavor with the perfect blend of chives give you something to nibble on. Great as an appetizer or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Unbleached Enriched Flours (Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Sugar, Vegetable Oil [Canola Oil (Ascorbic Acid and Rosemary added to preserve freshness), and/or Sunflower Oil], Palm Oil, Buttermilk, Sharp White Cheddar Cheese Powder [Cheddar Cheese (Pasteurized Milk, Salt. Cheese Culture, Enzymes), Whey, Buttermilk, Salt, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid], Baking Powder [(Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda, Cornstarch, Monocalcium Phosphate) leavening], Salt, Chives, Natural Flavor (contains Milk), Baking Soda (leavening), Black Pepper. CONTAINS: Wheat, Milk. This product is prepared and packaged using equipment that may come in contact with Egg, Soy, Tree Nuts (Pecans, Coconut, Almonds), Sesame.

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Lightly grease baking sheet pan, line with parchment paper, or use wedge-shaped scone pan.

In bowl, add 2/3 cup water to mix and stir with fork until combined and sticky dough forms. If dough seems dry, add additional water 1 teaspoon at a time.

Drop heaping tablespoons of dough (10-12) about 3" apart onto prepared pan.

For triangle shaped scones, shape by hand into triangle or if using a wedge-shaped pan, drop even mounds of dough into each cavity and spread into triangle shape.

Bake 15-17 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden on top.

Cheddar and chive scones

Today I made the cheddar and chive scones from sticky Fingerz bakery and I was very disappointed. I was disappointed because cheddar and chives presents a savory taste, and this particular scone listed sugar as the second ingredient and that’s exactly what it was a sweet scone that should’ve been savory Karen, Lee, Cheyenne, Wyoming.

We found these at Ross and decided to give them a whirl. Oh my goodness are they good. I have always loved scones, especially blueberry, but I had never had savory scones. These are so delicious. My husband and I absolutely LOVE them.

Yuck

I thought these would be savory scones, but they actually taste sweet, with added chive flavor. There’s no cheddar flavor at all. Why are they sweet?! Yuck!

This particular mix is excellent. But instead of using water, as the package indicated, I used heavy cream. It needed a little more liquid than the directions called for and I made the dough into a large circle, cut it into 8 wedge shapes and sprinkled the tops with garlic powder. They came out fabulous. I can't wait to try their other flavored scones.

We really liked these scones. Of course, I smeared butter on them, but delicious without the butter too!
